Future Projects

Currently Under Development:

caretakers art web.jpgWallis Knot began work on a project that explores the effect of Alzheimer's disease on family and friends, by collecting preliminary video interviews that will be used to create a piece of theatre, entitled Caretakers, as well as a documentary dvd that we hope will assist in the struggle to cope with the disease.  When I was contemplating my own family's experience with the disease, I received the most comfort from discussions I had with a friend who had been the caretaker for a man with Alzheimers.  Free from the emotional turmoil experienced as a family member, she was able to approach each day of her job with compassion and humor, and was able to see the simple beauty in this man with no past, for she did not know his past either, only his present.  I taped her moving dialogue on this subject and have been seeking out similar experiences to document, in the hope that these conversations will aid others seeking insight and support.

Wallis Knot is developing a new work based on the life and writings of Charlotte Bronte, entitled The Bronte Project.  In the play, various characters come to life, real and literary, including Lord Byron and Jane Eyre.

Reality collides with fiction as Jane Eyre travels around the stage with luggage in the shape of Charlotte's family homestead, The Haworth Parsonage.  Additional miniature architectural models open up to become Jane Eyre's dollhouse of Thornfield, complete with doll versions of all the inhabitants.  Charlotte's characters leave their separate novels and mingle amongst each other, whilst documentary-style interviews of the formative people in Charlotte's life appear in video projections.

Our recent trip to England provided us with a wealth of film footage and photos from the stunningly bleak moorlands of Yorkshire.
